Insignia LED light bulb review
When I was asked to review a lightbulb made of recycled materials with a 22 year lifespan (based on 3hrs/day usage) , I jumped on the offer.
The Insignia LED light bulb has a very unique design. Upon receiving it, the first thing I noticed was the bulb itself. It is like nothing I have ever seen before. It contains no glass at all and is made of plastic. When placed in my lamp, It performed as well as my usual standard light bulb and has a very nice glow.
I like that the bulb generates a soft, white, warm glow and uses 75% less electricity than traditional bulbs. It replaces 40w and 60w bulbs, which are what I traditionally use in my home. These bulbs are also dimmable when used with leading dimmers. Visit Insignia for complete dimmer compatibility information. These bulbs shouldn't be used where exposed to weather.
Another thing I noticed when reading the packaging of the Insignia LED light bulb is that it costs an average of $1.57/ year to use this bulb (based on usage of 3 hours a day). That is a great savings for me.
I like that these bulbs are fully recyclable, contain no mercury, filament or glass. The bulb creates 98% less waste than traditional lighting. This is another way for me to do my part in helping the environment.
The Insignia LED light bulb will be available at Best Buy Stores starting October 28th.
