Recovering from the Storm

The past week I have been without power. It was finally restored last night .I've barely seen my husband. He has been on duty helping those in need.  I lost all of the food in my refrigerator and freezer.  I was cold, frustrated and angry and felt like I was cut off from the rest of the world.  But more importantly, I was blessed.  I thank God I still have a roof over my head and my family is safe. All of the things I lost are nothing compared to many in my state, and can be easily replaced.

There are many people in NJ and NY who aren't as fortunate as I was and who need help. Lives were lost.  Hundreds of homes have been completely destroyed  and there are thousands of people without power, food, water, clothing or ice. Some have only the clothing on their backs.  Gas lines are unbelievable. They are miles long.  These are things we take for granted everyday.  Many companies are coming to the aid of my lifelong state and I thank them and  will continue to support all of them.

Downed power lines are everywhere

So many trees have been destroyed

Many roads blocked

Gas lines are long and supplies are short

The American Red Cross is  doing a lot for this entire area.  If you would like to donate $10 to help the hurricane victims, through the Red Cross,  you can text REDCROSS to 90999 or visit http://www.redcross.org/charitable-donations.

Thank you.
