Calolea Olive Oil Review and recipe - California Extra Virgin Olive Oil








Calolea Olive Oil has been awarded the "Seal of Quality" from the California Olive Oil Council since 1999 and numerous awards from all over the world.

Their small family farm is located in the Northern Yuba Sierra Foothills town of Loma Rica.

the Calolea family attributes their  superior tasting oils to their unique growing terroir.  Their olive trees were planted 100 years ago in the same way the Spanish missionaries planted their orchards.

They gently harvest their olives and rush them from the field to mill, to ensure the most flavorful olive oil possible, with health benefits you expect from fresh pressed Extra Virgin olive oil.

I was given some wonderful products to sample from Calolea Olive Oil.  They included:

Glycerine Olive Oil Soap which left my skin feeling moisturized.  It is hypo-allergenic and cruelty free.  It is gentle enough for babies and children. Great for use when shaving too! It has a nice fresh outdoorsy scent.

Strawberry infused Olive Oil which I drizzled on Ricotta Cheesecake. It was delicious!   It is such a beautifully aromatic oil with subtle hints of strawberry.  Perfect for drizzling on salads, meats, fruits and cheeses.

Garlic Infused Olive Oil which I used to make a nice dish of spaghetti.  I drizzled the garlic olive oil on with a sprinkle of parmesan and seasoned with a little salt and pepper.  Its a simple dish with lots of wonderful flavor and aroma.

My favorite was the Meyer Lemon Olive Oil!  It is so perfect for so many dishes.  It smells unbelievable with deep Meyer lemon hues. It is perfect for chicken, fish, vegetables, salads, fruits etc.  I made a broccoli floret dish that I found on the FoodNetwork.com website.   It is Broccoli Florets with Meyer Lemon Olive Oil by Giada De Laurentis.  The recipe is so simple to make.  It only takes 10 minuates.  Just boil water, add broccoli florets and boil until crisp-tender.  Drain water and transfer the florets to a bowl and drizzle with Meyer Lemon olive oil.  Season with salt and pepper.   I even added extra veggies and a few spices.
