Book Review: Whatever Wanda! by Christy Ziglar - A Shine Bright Kids Book

Whatever Wanda! is the latest book in the Shine Bright Kids series.

This book tells the story of a little girl named Wanda who doesn't exactly have the best attitude.

Throughout the story, Wanda's attitude prevents her from having fun and seeing the good in everything around her.  She struggles to see why everyone is having so much fun at the Rubber Duck Festival and all things Rubber Ducky.

Wanda refuses to participate in any of the Rubber Duck festival events until she realizes that she is the only one who isn't having fun.

After a long talk with the parade mascot she decides to change her attitude and winds up having the best time of all!

This book is beautifully illustrated by Paige Billin-Frye.

I found that this story teaches us all that the way we look at things can effect everything around us.   So many children use Sarcasm as a way to communicate. If we can change our attitudes and try seeing things in a positive way, we will feel good and strive to be our best.  This story teaches children about having positive attitudes.

A classic quote at the beginning of this book  by the author's uncle Zig Ziglar sets that tone for the entire story:

"We all need a daily checkup from the neck up to avoid stinkin' thinkin'."

About the author:

  1. This sounds like a great book for children to read. If it helps them learn to try things they never have before with a smile on their face it will be helpful!!
